OK, so not just another Me + You, yet not a Viva Radio first... something entirely exceptional and seasonal!
Andrew W.K. joins us for the
second time up in the studio, the first time being almost 2 years ago for a less seasonally aware session of
Me + You. This time, it is acknowledged right off the bat that
W.K. has dropped by to celebrate the *high holidays* in both speech and song. If there's a consistency between the two visits, it's that his performances are somewhat contrary to his party rocker image but are largely based around his piano playing and the accompanying balladry that comes through in his impassioned vocals.
Coming off like a cross between Newman and Nilsson (a little more the former),
A.W.K. weaves conversation and composition pretty seamlessly and quite humorously. Tedward really has to take the backseat here but is definitely along for the ride, giving our man the direction in which you ultimately want him to go. Right, there is a moment where Ted actually takes the wheel for a second while W.K. nods out before a goofy reminder for a midnight mass somewhere in Michigan sweetly interrupts the broadcast and then bam! - the motivational madman is belting out a short but sweet tune about "your neighborhood".
Before you can even begin to digest the ditty, he's singing about a favorite holiday libation,
"rice wine". It's absolutely fantastic, seeing as fresh milk, fresh chocolate, milk chocolate, Uncle Ben's Rice, and Uncle Milk all make an appearance. Holy chocolate cow -
even Tedward joins in for a verse!
Wait a second,
did you know that you can celebrate any day of the year? Apparently every day is unique unto itself, and it's up to you to enjoy life while enriching it with specialties such as this lovely edition of Me + You. Spread the holiday spirit and send this around to your friends and family, while sending them the cash that allows them to procure material objects that specifically bring them joy.
Ladies & gentlemen, Andrew W.K. in yin yang gear, sat on a stool not a chear, and bringing us into the new year.
Tune in today at 12 PM!
